The final courses of brick and blockwork are being installed at the Royal Hospital’s new Activities Building. The darker blockwork is being used in areas that will be used for storage or covered, whereas the lighter fair-faced blocks are being used in front-of-house workshop and circulation areas. A palette of pale blocks, plywood and galvanised conduit will give the workshops a simple and utilitarian aesthetic. The activities hall, on the other hand, will have a more traditional decorative scheme.
