The reconfigured courtyard paving is going down at our Royal Hospital Chelsea project. The historic stone setts have been retained and will be relaid in the central portion of the courtyard, while new flatter stones will be lair around the perimeter to create and accessable walkway and allow level access throughout. Whatsmore, the whole courtyard is being laid using a permeable bedding material to allow rainwater to drain freely.

Interestingly, two soak-aways were disovered under the courtyard when the paving was lifted. The remains of pipework connectin these soak-aways to drains in each of the stable rooms could still be seen. Find out more about this project here.
